EVENT DESCRIPTION:
Victims were part of the Tunisian opposition. “These acts of internet piracy in Tunisia coincide with the prime minister's call for the consolidation of control and censorship of the internet in the name of ‘protecting the democratic process, political stability and the fight against terrorism,’ OLPEC stated.” (1) In a related report (2), “journalists and human rights advocates find their inboxes flooded by pornographic pop-ups or their internet connections cut altogether by Tunisia Telecom, the state-run service provider, despite having paid their bill.”
